I am a member of Costco and was wondering if anyone is a member of of both Makro and Costco. If anyone is could you help me with the following questions
What does makro sell that Costco does not?
Does makro sell more food items than Costco?
Which is best for Kitchen equipment?
Which is cheaper?
Which do you prefer?
Thanks for your help.

I think Makro is cheaper
Costco is good for big party catering, HUGE quantities
Costco do some good cola
Costco has a more American feel and more American food, still not enough. I went to one in LA which was great but was more like a dingy C&C than the ones in the UK.
Costco have a lot more home stuff and appliances, seems to be more quality
Makro have a good catering section for kitchen equipment.
Makro have good deals on toilet paper, kitchen paper etc.
It depends on my needs, they are both good.An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

Get a day pass and have a look, as the offers change so quick.0 -
How do you get a day pass for makro?0

I don't find Makro to be that cheap. Gone are the days when it was a true cash and carry. Now it seems like everyone has a membership and the bargains are few and far between. The Makro Mail sometimes has decent offers, but Makro seem to have severe problems securing stock. More often than not, attractive Mail offers don't make it to the shop floor on the day they are supposed to - or, even worse, they get there the day before and people snap them up. You then arrive on the day they are supposed to be out, and they are sold out
Costco sell much better quality stuff on the whole. They don't have much variety - eg they generally have one of any particular item - but they are normally very good quality. Kirkland, Costco's own brand, are also very good. The bakery and butchers in store are great and really cheap. Also their fruit and veg is very good quality but not that cheap.
I much prefer Costco for the reasons outlined above.0 -
Makro good for food and cleaning products, they often have smaller packages of things and of course they don't charge a fee. Having said that I have a slight preference for costco meat but that could be down to the in-store butchers - they are both far superior to Tesco! Also the bakery department of Costco has the edge for me. The fish counter in Makro is excellent.
I'm sorry I don't know about the day pass for Makro, but if you fit the criteria (have your own business) then it hardly matters as it doesn't cost.0 -

makro dont do day passes anymore... unless you are already a card holder and have proof of id...
*works in makro*
btw i think makro is over priced in 89% of there products... i dont buy anything there now unless its recuced (ie food or this weekend tshirts for 98p) a simple example is maccleans toothpaste (4 pack) £3.99 + 17.5% vat = £4.68... (then i get staff discount) but... in asda/boots you can get a bigger size maccleans pack for 99p bogof with points in boots... unless you are very shopping savey you can spend a bomb in makro for very little...
dont get me wrong its great for toliet rolls and catfood (things you can buy in bulk) that work out at half the cost but this is only ideal if you have storage space :rotfl:0 -
Makro are good for their specials. Costco are better for every day, but IMO neither are cheap.0

i only buy in Makro when they have deals onIf You See Someone Without A Smile......Give Them One Of Yours0

I've done a few like-for-like comparisons, and Costco was cheaper on everything except a couple of things where Makro had an offer.
Makro have a much bigger range (at least the Reading one does) but I can easily walk out of Makro without buying anything (few things are that good a deal). Not so for costco!0
