macbook pro false information

the above link is a comparison of the two 15" models of the apple macbook air on tesco direct

i visited my local tesco today with the intention of purchasing the more expensive model. however, they only stock the cheaper model in store at which point i would normally have left but i noticed that the product info stated that this model had a 750gb hard drive which led me to purchase it. when i got home i checked the product and it is only 500gb (as displayed online) and basically what has happened is a basic human error. i will probably be returning the laptop but wondered if theres anything i can claim through this 'ordeal'?

Losing a child or other family member, being burgled, having a house fire, losing your job, going through a divorce and many similar matters can rightfully be described as going through an ordeal.

Buying a computer and then finding that the HDD is only 500GB as opposed to the 750GB advertised may well be an annoyance or inconvenience, it's hardly "an ordeal"

To be fair the OP did put ordeal in quotes which hopefully implies that they knew it wasn't really one. The only thing you might possibly get away with asking for is your transport costs to return the computer, you wouldn't be able to claim for the first trip as it was your decision to go there.

You are entitled to a full refund when you return your macbook.

That's about it.

Anyway, £300 more for a slightly faster processor and £20 worth of extra hard drive??? Strewth.

could i not try and get the 750gb model for the same price (chances are they might not know the other differences)?

You could try. But you won't succeed - you are entitled to your money back, and if you make enough of a fuss, will probably get a £10 goodwill voucher.

That is all.

The fact that the store staff don't know the differences is irrelevant, as if they don't stock it in the store, they would have to order it in and therefore would be made aware of the extra differences and the cost.
