MOT anniversary

I recently had an MOT a month before was due and received the new style certificate. When I took the car in I gave them my old cert so they could forward date the new cert as normal. On collecting the car they had that days date on it and say they cannot forward date on the new system - all they do is pass or fail. I do not believe this. Any ideas?

Thought it would automatically put it to the expiry date of the old MOT , its a calendar month beforehand is the earliest you can have it done , it says so on your MOT certificate
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

What is the expiry date of your new certificate?

And what was the expiry of the previous?

99% sure they forward dated mine ... pretty sure he pointed it out to me (was explaining new cert to me) would have to dig it out to be sure though
  • I recently took mine for an MOT and said to the tester do you need to see the old mot he said no its all computerised so Im guessing when he logged my cars details into the computer it told him when last one expired.I can only think you took it in a few days before you should of so they can only date it from the date you brought it in?
  • I took my car for MOT last November, about 3 weeks before the expiry date. The new style MOT receipt had the correct advanced expiry date on. Didn't need to ask and didn't need to show the current certificate. I didn't even take it with me.

If you want to preserve the anniversary of the test its a month, I put mines in 3 months early to see if I was going to bother taxing it again or get shot.

If it's over a month, you'll only get 12 months MOT, if it's under a month its the 12 months + whatever was left on the old certificate.
