Do I have grounds for a claim and where to start

Hi
Im not to sure where to start, I have been in debt for years and have got between my husband and myself 16 creditors, most of which are credit cards and 2 personal loans.
These range in how old they are and most when taken out had insurance on them although this was then cancelled a while ago, these did run for a long time.
My questions are I until 2 years ago was on severe disablement allowance due to health issues and was unemployeed through out the times that these credit agreements were taken out. Each time I took a new one out I did tell them that I was not working.
My husband has worked throughout and they did tell him they would pay out if he ever needed them to which I guess they would of we do not know.
I really believe that I was misold all of mine as they wouldnt of paid out if I stopped working as I wasnt. I didnt own my own house or have children so had no need for life cover, we held seperate cover elsewhere.
Do I have a case? How far back is the limit? How do I find out how much I paid and when credit agreements were taken out? Where do I start, can I do this myself or do I have to go through a company advertising on the tele?
We have now entered a DMP with the CCCS and as of the 15th of February I will be unemployeed, my husband still works full time so any money would be a great help to beable to claim back.
Thanks for reading.

Yes you do and there is no limit. How do I find out how much I paid and when credit agreements were taken out?Where do I start, can I do this myself or do I have to go through a company advertising on the tele?
Under no circumstances use a claims company. If you are in arrears, defaulted or had amounts written off, the lender can use the redress payment against those rather than pay it to you. The claims company however, will bill you on the full amount of the redress. even if you do not get a penny personally.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
