If I fix now, will I get the recent price cuts?

I've not switched for a while, thinking I was on the best deal (it was at the last time I checked). Procrastination is the thief of money...

Having just done a comparison I should be able to save 237 quid a year by switching to npower!

However, if I switch to a fixed tariff now, before their 5% gas price cut on 1st Feb 2012, will I catch that lower price? The MSE website says switch now, and I know that it usually takes 4-6 weeks to switch, but I'm not sure at what point in the application/transfer process the price fix is set.

Cheers,

Tom

The prices are those applicable on the date you go on supply with the new supplier, which will not be much before the end of Feb if you switch today.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Great, many thanks.
    I'll get on it! :)
