My son really would like to buy a monitor for his bedroom. For years I have said no TVs in your bedroom until you are 16, well he very nearly is.

He wants the screen predominately to play his PS3 on (which will free up the tv in the living room) but also to have freeview tv on sometimes.

He is looking at this one and I'd be interested to hear views or recommendations of other monitors. £180 really is his top price but spending less would be good (I know this one is slightly more at present, price seems to chance a bit)

Can't comment on that TV personally, I would say go to Richer Sounds but its £219 there, you should change the thread title as it's TV not a monitor you want (the difference is the tuner)
  • Hi there, long time lurker, but think it is time to jump in with a first post.

I have the 25" version of this TV monitor, and I use it for PC gaming and watching DVD / bluray movies in my kitchen. I cannot fault it, especially as it is a big improvement over the 24" LCD supermarket brand TV it replaced (Failed after 3 months). It gives a great picture from the PC over HDMI, the remote control has a good layout, and the menus are faster and more usable then the aforementioned t€¢hnica unit.

Thanks for unlurking just for me, I feel very honoured. Thanks for your comments, does the price look reasonable to you compared with what you paid?

  • I paid about GBP230 just over six months ago, so that price still looks good, but pasting that Amazon URL into

    uk dot camelcamelcamel dot com

shows that that LG was twenty pound cheaper a few days ago. I would be tempted to wait for the price to fall again (as it occasionally does with Amazon.) You can set up a price drop reminder on camelcamelcamel to email you when it does, or try elsewhere. I used ebuyer as they were twenty/thirty pounds cheaper than amazon and had it in stock.

I have bought 8 various LG televisions from 22" to 42" in the last 3 years (for me, family and work) and have been very happy with them all.

Good picture quality, good connectivity, easy to use menus and channel guides, and good layout of remote controls.

Not the most expensive either, especially if you get from somewhere like Richer Sounds.

I cannot fault my LG TV. Would definitely recommend them for price and reliability.

  • Also I should also point out, that if you only have two inputs connected, you can select between these two only, and not every unused input like technika and Samsung models I've used. Very handy to save you having to go past four or five inputs to get to the one you actually use. Saves time in the long run as well. :)

I can certainly fault mine! Damn thing crashes constantly. We've had the motherboard replaced, then the hard drive but just gave up in the end. I've stopped watching TV now anyway, so maybe I can thank LG for that!

Hard-drives in TVs? What will they think of next!
