in Cutting tax
would really appreciate some help..
doing my first tax return (online and later than i should be due to 'bad advice' i was given by inland revenue but that's another story)...
it's for 2010/2011 tax year
i was employed part-time with three jobs
i was employed as self-employed
so four jobs altogether.
I'm a bit confused as to how many forms I'm meant to be filling in online. I've started my tax return which is asking me about my employed jobs which I'm filling in. I just wondered when they ask you about your self-employed job - will it be on the same form (I can't 'look ahead' on the form I'm completing because it won't let you until you have filled in all the boxes you are currently working on and at the moment i've come to a standstill because it's asking me for info that i don't have to hand right now which is annoying because i could be getting on and doing parts of the forms that i do have the information on!)...
Does anyone know that once I've filled in the employed bit does it then take me automatically onto an option to fill in the self-employed bit on the tax return? Or is that a different form?
Thank you

If you were self-employed as a sole trader (not Ltd company) then you need 3 employment pages and 1 self-employed page. You weren't "employed as self-employed" - thats not possible.
You select these pages at the beginning of your return0 -

Don't recall selecting forms myself and there's nothing on my account to say what forms I have selected so I'm guessing (hoping) that the information I provided selected the forms for me...
Does this mean that the 4 pages the tax return itself or is that another form?0 -
The link below is from HMRC's online demo

You will enter yes for being employed and self-employed and this will add more pages for you to complete.0 -

I think where it asks were you an employee and I put 'yes' and it then asked if I was self-employed I might have put 'no' as I was relating it to the first question in that if I was an employee then I wouldn't be self employed! Oh dear, will have to go back and check (if it will let me!)

Have just ticked the yes box and it has given me an additional form to complete as you said...!0
