It seems that several large organisations are using these 05511 telephone numbers - Santander in my case for their Branch offices.

A search of the internet reveals nothing about up to date charges.

Does anyone know the cost of calls to these numbers - in particular from a BT line with an 'Anytime' call plan.

There appear to be 2 different charging rates for 05511 numbers, depending on subsequent digits.

0551100 numbers are charged at g6 rate (5.105p/minute at all times).

    0551107 & 055114 numbers are charged at g21 rate (4.992p/minute weekdays, 2.039p/minute evenings/nights and 1.20p/minute weekends).

    See http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumer/consumerProducts/pdf/SpecialisedNos.pdf

However, g21 rate calls are included in calls packages and are inclusive at relevant times (see the bottom left of Page 5 of the above pdf document).
    * - “UK” includes calls to 0870 numbers and to any number range charged at g21 rates and shown as 11 under categorisation for Customer Options in Section 2, Part 11 of the BT Price List.
Customers with Unlimited Anytime Plan will be entitled to 200 free texts per calendar month.
As Santander appear to use the 055114 number range, it looks like your BT Unlimited Anytime Plan will mean your calls will be inclusive.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

You need to refer to the price tariff of your phone supplier, as all networks have their own rates. 05 was a code introduced around 5 years ago, but I agree it is ridiculous the cost cannot be determined until the 5th or 6th digit of the dialling code. Santander have switched from 0870 to 05511, for the first time providing a direct number for local branches - not the real number, of course - and all the branches withhold the real number when calling out.
