Transferring Playlists from iPod to new PC

Hi,

Having copied all my music files from old PC to laptop, I am trying to find a way of copying the playlists. I foolishly thought that iTunes could copy the playlists across, but when I try to start synching iPoid with Laptop, I get warning messages that the iPod is already synch'd with another computer, and if I synch with the Laptop, it will lose all the information and overwrite from the Laptop.

Has anyone managed to successfully migrate synching their iPod from one PC to another?

Many thanks.

    On your old PC

    1. Open iTunes.
    2. Select one of your playlists from the Source list.
    3. From the File menu, choose Export Song List. A Save dialog appears.
    4. From the Format pop-up menu, choose XML.
    5. From the Where pop-up menu, choose Desktop.
    6. Click Save.
    7. Repeat steps 2 through 6 for each of the playlists that you have created in iTunes.

Copy the exported playlists to the new computer. Open iTunes and import them. Job done.

Perhaps an easier way would have been to simply transfer the iTunes folder from the old PC to the new one. If you used all the default locations then it will copy all the music and all your playlists over so that when you open iTunes on the new PC it looks exactly the same as the old one.
