Re..."No one will find that information unless they are looking for information about your business. You can not just stumble on that info without something to go on to begin with."

go onto google and type in company director then the name of your road/area...........it brings a list up of everyone in that area who is a director and links to all their details. You dont even have to know they have a business in the first place...... you dont even have to know their name. Try it (unless no one in yr road runs a business then try another residential area and see what happens).

"As you protect yourself behind a limited liability I think its good that the information is easily found, prospective customers/businesses can make a decision as to how safe it is to deal with you."

I deal with a limited number of long standing loyal satisfied customers, dont need to advertise, not looking for any other customers or wanting to drum up business or have anything on credit. If I was interested in researching another company I would be quite happy to either contact companies house or join a site to find out about them, dont see why its necessary to have the information presented in this way.

Whether you need to advertise or not is irrelevant, even your customer base is irrelevant. You are a limited company same as any other limited company so you will be treated the same.

As others have already said, either except that the information will be available for all to see in return for limited liability or change your status.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

...yes, I DO understand this. The comments about customer base etc I made were to outline to you that I wasnt trying to hide anything from customers and that that wasnt the point of my original post. They werent made to suggest I should be treated any differently.

Please read my op...thats what I was suggesting. You're telling me something I already know. Please read the posts back. Its a general discussion, im not expecting to change the system. I wanted to bring it to other peoples attention so that they were aware of it and also find out other peoples opinions. Thank you for yours.

I've just checked the change in my pocket and totted it up.

    It comes to £5.21
Add that to the £30 in my wallet makes a grand total 'in hand' of £35.21

OMG  Now the whole world can view it on t'internet.

Ever looked in a telephone directory? That contains lots of peoples names and addresses, not to mention their phone number

I think you worry too much ;)
