Please can someone advise, ive had the cap one circle card for about 2-3 years now and last year i got informed by statement that as of say e.g. august cashback was dropping to .5% which upon checking my statements is has dropped, but i come here and a lot of people are getting 1% which i dont understand and ive tried looking for links to confirm that it is 1% but cant find any links to circles card except to apply but no mention of % so now im confused and i doing something wrong so only get .5%, it is the black/white(old) with circles on it or is there another one?
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I had the same. If it was reduced there was no way I could find to get it increased again. I got the money and closed the card.0

People may have been referring to different cards, Morgan Stanley do 1% (2% for first few months) as do Amex, Citibank have just launched a Platinum Visa with 1% too.2p off is still 2p off!0

We have a Capital One Circle Mastercard and I heard the rumours last year about them reducing the cashback to .5%. However, this has still not happened to us and we are still getting 1%, I know from the rpoints forum that a few people are still getting 1% but I do not know what the criteria is to keep the 1%. The mastercard is a backup because where possible we use our Amex Plat and we have been on 2% for a while now.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

I think CapitalOne cherrypicked [or, more likely, used a blindfold & pin...] their Circle card customers because, as reported many times last year, they reduced the cashback from 1% to .5% for a lot of people whilst others [lucky me!] are still on 1%. I'm touching wood now. I seem to remember that one or two people posted that their c-back was reduced to .5% but then bounced back up to 1% for no reason. I don't think there's any way you can wangle this yourself. I'm keeping a close eye on my cashback every month & if it changes so will my spending card! As it is, it's only a back-up card for me as I use Amex Platiunum where it's accepted.Expect the worst & hope for the best...0

Cheers for the replies, maybe cause i was a moderate to high spender, everything i could put on except from food went on that card even council tax - getting 1% of that back felt good, and i allways paid it off at or before end of month so maybe i am not what they want for the 1% i might just have to look at the morgan stanley card or does that have a capped limit? as i know amex isnt welcome everywhere and going to spain on holiday i dont want knocked back getting my duty free;)The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

Sorry, have to tell you that is exactly what we did with our circle card, we would spend about £26k a year on it and only took out the amex when I saw it offered 2% (at the time it was 2% over 5k) and we cleared it every month. So I guess there is actually no rhyme or reason for why we have been kept at 1%. I guess we were just lucky. However, I too am keeping an eye on it and if it falls below 1% will look elsewhere because you definately need a back up when using Amex.
Also for holidays we use Nationwide CC as there is no commission charged. We also put cash in the Nationwide account to withdraw on as again there is no commission.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
