Isn't the double life thing a bit of a gimmick?
I use mine for er... "a few" months, with no loss of filtering power.
It seems to me that they are just being a bit less greedy than brita, by recommending 60 days instead of 30, while you can keep for even longer than that anyway.
I use a Brita jug with the Maxtra filters, used to use the other type of brita filters before in my old Brita jug. Although the calendar thingy says to change it, I always go for a bit longer, as long as it filters through fairly quickly I reckon that it hasn't run out yet - it tastes still ok too. Going to get them from Amazon/Tesco from now on or whenever I see a good deal on from wherever I will stock up
Maxtra cartridges are on offer in Morrisons until the 29th £10 for 4.
I've enough now to last the year. Maybe a little longer, we have very hard water and can tell when the filter starts to need replacing. I try to do another week once the countdown on the top of the jug has run down.
