Would you consider compatibles? I currently use Aqua Optima which appear no different to Brita, in my opinion anyway. They're much cheaper than Brita filter cartrages, especially when they are on offer which is now and again. I wouldn't expect you to switch to Aqua Optima as you'd need to buy an Aqua Optima jug as they are different to Brita's filters, only suggeting you might want to. Here's an example of their filters and jugs. The jugs are very cheap though I've not seen any recent offers on Aqua Optima filter cartrages.
You can also get LAICA Biflux Water Filters which appear to be a lot cheaper the Brita Maxtra filters cartrages. These are compatible with Brita Maxtra jugs. Amazon did have some not so long ago, £16.95 for 8 though appear to be unavailable on their website. Might be worth hunting some down if you'd like to try them.
Try seaching the MegaShopBot if you do.0 -
Thank you very much both of you. I will try Tescos tomorrow. Maybe the price has come down since last week when I checked.
I am also definitely going to get one of those aqua ones. Price difference is amazing.0 -

Yes, there is definitely a big price difference alright. The only down side with the Aqua Optima filter cartridges is they aren't recyclable. Aqua Optima don't currently have any recycling facilities around anywhere.0 -
I have had this for a couple of years, though oddly the running costs are much higher

Just noticed Aqua Optima also do Evolve 60-Day Double Life Filters as well, also compatible for Brita Maxtra. Was just checking Aqua Optima's website and noticed this, also came across the following offer as well.
Aqua Optima Evolve 60-Day Double Life Filter 12-Pack Fits Brita Maxtra - 2 year pack - £20 at Amazon0 -
Thanks for the Evolve tip Lugh. Gave my Jug away to a friend but always feel awkward when giving something which has ongoing costs, so this will sort that for a couple of years0

I ordered 2 of the 3 packs of Maxtra filters from tesco direct and collected in store last week, £6.85 for 3 or £24.00 for 6. Not quite sure how they work that once out!!0

Appears Tesco are up to their old tricks as usual. 3x Maxtra filters works out £2.28 each, £24 for 6 works out £4 each. Not surprised you went for the former.0
