Will a Belgian TV set work in the UK?

I have been given the possibility of acquiring an LCD TV in Belgium for €1.00 through Belgacom, the local telecoms provider. Would such a TV work in the UK? In the past, a TV I had at a flat in Spain would not work when brought back to the UK. However, this was using an analogue signal. In the UK, we now have digital TV.

I don't have an answer, but does it have a Freeview adapter included inside?
I've found an answer for the other direction!0 -
Even if it's not digital compatible, it should still work with a set top box. Do you know what make/model the TV would be, if someone can see the specs they'd be able to advise you a bit better0

Unfortunately when using it in the UK the BBC news etc will all be in belgium speak (mainly dutch).
For 1 Euro, I would certainly risk it, you can always stick in on ebay if not.
The voltage should be the same (230vAC 50hz) and they use PAL, if it has a SCART socket then it can use a UK Freeview decoder.
I'd like it if you dont want it lol0 -
Probably only receives endless reruns of Poirot...No free lunch, and no free laptop0

It'll have a different mains plug, you can buy an adaptor 'travel plug' type thing, and it may not have the same tuner as we use for freeview. This second point is irrelevant if you're going to use it with Sky, PS3 or any other HDMI or SCART input. Finding out the model number would help.0

The British "Freeview" is just a branding used for the DVB-T broadcast standard. Belguim use DVB-T too. If you can get Freeview where you live then a Belgian TV should have no problems tuning in to British channels.
Modern sets are pretty universal. Gone are the days when you couldn't move sets between countries if one transmitted on VHF and the other on UHF, or because they put the sound carrier in different places in relation to the video signal.0 -
When I was based in Germany,we had to have a little gizmo fitted to the TV's we took out there so they could work there but I know a couple people bought TV's from the German shops that worked OK back in the Uk after changing the plug.0
