I'd like to make a bee house, just need to get over my fear of flying, buzzing insects then I suppose I can think about it :/. I bet your bees appreciate your efforts though!

I might find out if they ever use it! I saw a bee today checking out all the joints in my brickwork, steadfastly ignoring the log. :(

It's some dry, hollow plant stems at the bottom, and two blocks of wood with holes drilled in them at the top.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

How close together do you plant peas?

I planted mine about an inch apart last year growing up one sheet of netting, but I didn't get enough of a crop so this year I've jury thrown a couple of handfuls in a round pot and stuck it next to the net. Will wait and see what happens!

2 inches apart going up to 4 inches apart for taller varieties (and 2 inches deep).

Please can i ask what you use to grow your peas and beans up. I have some straight hazel sticks that i cut last week. Can i use these or will they root and grow. I usually use bamboo but would like something more rustic looking. Thankyou

Another post on here suggested googling "image bean support" which brings up lots of pics to choose from.
I used the wigwam support last year (my first year) and had such a huge crop that I ended up tying it to the fence with string! I'm using large weave bean netting tacked to my fence this year. Not rustic I know buy some purty pictures and the google thang!
