Creditor Refused our Recorded Letter

Hi,
My partner entered into a credit agreement with Career Finance 4 Trade Skills some 2 years ago after being sold a £5600 Electricians course from a representative of Train4Trade Skills. She did try to cancel a few weeks later, but she was outside the time limit. She lost confidence in the college and the course because of the negative things she read about them on the internet and feels the course was mis-sold to her. Consequently she has never started the course and she has now made half of the payments.
Recently she wrote to the creditors, by recorded post, to say that her next payment would be her last as she can no longer continue to make the payments due to her deteriorating financial situation, as well as the fact that she has no confidence in the course, and would they consider writing off the debt? Our next move would have been to offer them a reduced amount of money each month until it is paid off.
However, unbelievably, the letter came back as refused/Not Called For!
My question is what do we do now? We can't believe that this company would refuse correspondence from its customers.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

no it said refused / not called forDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Your partner took out a loan to pay for this course. The money was given directly to Train4Trade. It is not T4T you owe the money to but the finance company who give you the money.
This is well dcumented on here (look for Barclays partner finance).
The loan provider simply wants it's £5,600 + Interest back. Your argument is with T4T but I doubt you will get anywhere at all, they have made a business out of fleecing people.0 -
Hi,
I understand this, but my partner really cannot afford to pay this any more, and we thought that this should be communicated to the creditor. How can we do this if they won't accept our correspondence?0 -
If you stop paying they will understand that you cannot afford it.
Whether they accept a letter or not the next step knackers the credit rating. Are you prepared to accept that?Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
She doesnt have any choice about paying it, its no good her telling them it will be her last payment, believe me, it wont.
Instead of reading negative things ie hearsay from other anonymous people on an internet site, and believing all of it she should have still gone on the course and found out for herself. She has probably wasted a brilliant opportunity for training herself for a trade.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I would have thought they would accept letters, otherwise they may not get payments.
I would try sending another letter, are you sending it to the finance company or train4trade? It may be that the finance company has gone bust and the debt taken over by someone else.
However, sending a letter stating you are refusing to make the next payment is not going to help your case. If you are struggling with payments you need to try and negotiate a payment plan with the finance company. You could also try taking action against train4trade and/or the finance company (section 75) if they are not providing the service.
However this would not work if you just decided that based on negative reviews you didn't want to do it anymore! You are still liable for the full cost of the course.0 -
I read so many negative reviews about every credit card out there, guess what I still have themDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Thank you for your replies. It is not an ideal course of action, but she has decided to change her payment to £1. We will write again and let them know this. Even if the letter is refused again it will be proof that she tried to inform them of her situation.0

if the course was not as adertised. you may and its a pretty big may have a case against the company that supplied the money. however if you were unhappy with the course why have you been paying it for 2 years.0
