DLA - Here we go again!

It's that time again...............
The letterbox has rattled and the renewal form has landed on the doormat:eek:

My current award ends on 04/06/12. They want to return the form ASAP, so they have enough time to disallow my claim, sorry so they have enough time to review my claim before my current claim ends......... how kind;)

Seriously, I have been dreading this. This will be my 3rd claim and on both previous claims I have ended up having to go all the way to appeal tribunal, both were allowed.............

I see no reason why they would award me anything this time around and once again I expect to have to go to appeal tribunal. I am trying not to worry or stress about it yet, as I have no intention of returning the form until late April at the earliest. I am not going to risk them disallowing me and losing out on what I am entitled to until June when this award ends.

Reading their covering letter, I noticed that it states there will be no reminders sent about returning the form and they will not contact me again about my claim. Didn't they used to send a reminder??? What if the form hadn't arrived due to being lost in post?? It could be months before you think to ring up about not receiving it.

Anyway I have put the whole thing in the cupboard until nearer the time, I can't face the mamoth task of completing it yet anyhow.

  • did you keep a copy of your last claim, and the appeal decision letter for reference?perhaps as you have had to appeal twice it might be worth getting help at this point this time(cab, dial, welfare rights etc),i would certainly aim to return it by the end of feb latest

It's probably worthwhile to send copies of the tribunal verdicts, along with your claim, if your condition has not changed.
You did get a copy of the 'statement of reasons' from the tribunals?

Well if you have had to go to appeal twice and from the sound of it, you are not that hopeful for this third claim, it sounds to me that you will not have a chance in hell of being awarded PIP when it comes in!!

You can't have such a strong case to have been failed twice already.

There are many that are given an award just on a GP's report. Maybe you have a useless GP then?

Mine was awarded a few months ago after about 7 weeks of sending in the first claim and them obtaining a GP report - HRM/MRC indef.

Are you sure it's worth the time and trouble knowing that PIP is around the corner next year?

    Just to update this..........

I delayed sending in the renewal form until last week in May, after receiving my last DLA payment. Just for clarification I did this so that any new decision would not be able to overide the existing award that finished on 04/06/12.

I received a letter within a week advising they had received my renewal form, followed by a letter the following day stating they had written to my Dr for a report.

This morning I received a thick envelope which contained their decision on my renewal. Well I have read it about 10 times now and still can't take it in..........

They have awarded me high rate mobility and low rate care for another 2 years to 2014. I am absolutely gobsmacked to say the least.......

No dreadful medical from one of their so called doctors to deal with, no having to go through the rigour of appealing and attending a tribunal this time, just straight to being reawarded for another 2 years.

1st application refused, went to tribunal, awarded for 2 years.

1st renewal refused, doctor visited, lied on the report, went to tribunal, reawarded for 3 years.

2nd renewal, no doctor, no medical, no tribunal reawarded for 2 years.

So I guess it just goes to show, it can happen. I am so delighted and it is such a relief not to have to go through all the stress of appealing and attending the tribunal again.

Just hope its not a wind up and tomorrow I get another letter saying, We made a mistake:p
