Six year limit & lender in liquidation issues

I've recently decided to try and claim back PPI I was charged on a retail finance agreement that I took out several years ago. The agreement was signed on 11th Jan 2006 and lasted for around 4 years. Does the 6 year limit for PPI claims apply from when the agreement started, or ended?
I've also discovered that the actual lender, Clode Funding Ltd does not exist anymore according to Companies House. Also, the associated company Clode Retail Finance Ltd is in liquidation. Both companies were associated with V12 Finance, which does still exist, but my agreement specifically lists Clode Funding Ltd as the lender. Is this going to be an issue? The logo at the top of the agreement says "V12 Finance.com Clode Retail Finance", so clearly they were associated with V12 Finance, even at the time of taking out the agreement. I'm just concerned that I may have issues because the actual legal entity that I entered into a contract with no longer exists (Clode Funding Ltd).
Can anyone provide any advice as to whether my claim is worth pursuing?
Many thanks
