RailTech Group training fee for non-existent job

Options
Hi, a few months ago my husband went on a 6 week training course with RailTech Group. It was meant to cost over £3000 (signalling course). They really led us to believe there would be a job at the end of the course. We could only afford 20% of the £3000, with the balance to be paid after the course and in installments once he starts working (this was all on the phone). Once he finished the course they seemed to keep wasting his time; he was never offered a job. In fact, they wrote us a letter to say he would not be offered a job. Now they are sending threatening letters asking for the balance. Where do we stand legally? I am getting scared. It cost us a bomb in transportation and accomodation at a time when we did not have the money. Now, even to go to a solicitor will cost us money we do not have. What can we do??

I think it is time for you to read the contract.

If is says in there that you start paying the balance when you have a job, then ask then why they are chasing you for money now.
  • There was no contract. Job promise was on phone

So you have paid £600 already with no agreement in writing on what that £600 was for?

And no documentation on how or when further installments were to be paid?

Sounds like serious mis-selling of credit to me.

So they have nothing signed? Let em take you to court then.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
