  • I have managed to get the letter of assignment from them. But that's all. And that has taken since May 2011.

I have reported them to the OFT but I will definately take your advice and report them to TS.

I have also looked at the debt free wannabees forum and the advice there which has been really helpful.

I have bad debt problems but have managed to get a handle on it and arrange repayments with all of my creditors. I am happy to do the same here but, as you say, not merely on their "say-so".

    Thank you again everyone.

I do not believe I owe them this money as I stopped my account when the contract ended.
I think you are right, but that is the date I was given for the start of my contract date with them by Lowell. Another thing to confuse me. I do know I ended the contract in 2007 and went to 02.

So you did have a contract with 3 in 2007? When you say the contract ended, does 'stopped my account' mean you cancelled the contract with them or just cancelled your DD paying for the contract?
  • I cancelled the contract because I got a better deal with O2. Then I cancelled the direct debit.

Was there any penalty for cancelling the contract early? e.g. paying the monthly fees until the end?

If so, this may be what is being chased.

Regardless of that, Lowells should provide evidence of what they are chasing and that it is really owed.

Problem is that debt collectors happily buy debts without asking questions or getting supporting documents, so when they are challenged they frequently have nothing to back up their claims apart from vaguely saying "xxxx creditor says you owe this". Not acceptable at all, but they make their money by buying these things up cheaply and hoping people don't ask difficult questions.

  • My contract period was at an end , I simply told them I was not renewing it. Maybe this is why I have charges now, perhaps I ended the payments too early. I'll pay it if that's the case but I still require some proof. A statement filled with zero balances is what I got, which to me means I owe zero!
