Why would someone ask you for money to give you money, it doesn't make any sense.
  • Hi,
I applied for a load on welcome loads mainly out of curiosity, when I saw that the required a payment before the loan would go in I clocked that it was a dodgy company and left the site immediately. However, I have received a number from them and "partner companies" saying they have my loan ready and if I want it to follow a link but if not to reply, STOP and END etc. I have not given them any of my bank details and have not accepted any of their offers. Am I ok or is there anything more I need to do to make sure the process is stopped?

    Thanks

If you did it out of curiosity, WHY did you give them your phone number?

If you haven't given out your bank details, you are safe, but also bear in mind, NONE of these calls will end up with a loan.

Cancel the cheque and have nothing else to do with these wretched companies.

  • well I gave my basic details when the website seemed legitimate, nevertheless stupid to give my phone number I know. I have no plans to accept a loan from anyone. It says on their website to write to cancel the application, should I do this or is this for only if someone has accepted a loan?

There is no application, the same as there is no loan.
Keep your bank details to yourself.

All you have achieved is ensuring you will be pestered by scammers all looking for some of your cash. The second you submitted that form it was too late to avoid the enevitable grief you will encounter.
