Hi guys
TIA if anyone can help - my roof leaked (and has since been repaired) but there are stains on the ceiling. I've tried painting over them with white emulsion paint (the standard stuff you get in big tubs), but this doesn't cover it. Before I make a trip to the DIY store today, can anyone confirm if there's a thick version of emulsion, or an undercoat?
thanks
Will

But the banks are made of marble,
With a guard at every door,
And the vaults are stuffed with silver,
That the farmer sweated for.

Hi - you can actually get "stain cover" paint that is specifically designed for this job.
You local DIY shop should stock this.0 -

As you have already invested in paint - there is an aerosol "sealer" that you can buy which will also seal in the mark, and stop it showing through the paint.0 -
The cheapest thing to use and it will cover, as I use this on jobs where there has been a leak of some sort.
Get some oilbase undercoat, white preferably, and whack that on the stain, make sure if bit of the stain is covered.
When dry, emulsion as usual, but first, dab some emulsion on it prior to rolling, and the stain wont bleed through.:D0 -
the best thing is to use an oil based paint to cover the stain and when its dry, just pain in emulsion as you would normally do. The oil based paint stops the stain from seeping through. HTH
