PPI Claim advice

vibes
Hi,
I took out a loan in march 2003 with beneficial finance for £3000 but in Jan 2006 I was off work sick for 6 weeks and fell behind on the payments. The loan did have PPI (was told I had to take it out or wouldnt pass for the loan) but when I came to claim on it due to been sick I was told I wasnt entitled to claim because I was in arrears, which resulted in the next few years been hell several calls a day for payments, lots of charges (snowballed) and I would'nt want to imagine how much I finally pay them. I finally payed off the loan in 2010, so far I contacted them and asked them to send me the loan agreement and T&C from when I took out the loan which arrived this morning. On a agreement it stats total sum payable with interest for PPI is £1341.00.
I have a few questions I cant seem to find an answer to.
1) Firstly can I claim if I took out the loan in 2003?
2) Would I get the full £1341.00 back if I can claim?
3) Would I get any of the charges refunded or am I not entitled to this?
4) On the agreement Ive just noticed it says Optional PPI would this affect my claim if im entitled to one?
5) What would be my next step?
Thanks in advance Shaun.
