We are taking advantage of the £1 Megatrain fares and the £12 Travelodge rooms and having a 1 night stay this week in city centre Birmingham. We will have a day and a half there. Could anyone suggest things to do apart from shopping please. Willing to travel out of the city centre.

What about Cadbury World in Bournville? I enjoyed it when we went a couple of years ago although I think you have to pre-book your time slot for the tour - check online. Have you checked to see whether there's anything on at the NEC that you'd be interested in?0

The museum is well worth a visit and is still free, the Jewellery Quarter is lovely for a wander and has a great museum and brilliant cemetery (if you're into that sort of thing!)0
