LA - is the Metro / Tube safe

Was just wondering with some parts of LA not being very safe, how safe is it to travel on the Metro /Tube

Of course it's safe! While pockets of LA are "unsafe", just like any other city including London, the metro system is obviously fine. No major tourist city in a country like America could really have a particularly unsafe transport system.

I've used it to get around LA just remember that some areas are ok to pass through on the metro but probably best not to get off at!

I satyed at a hostel in inglewood on my first couple of nights and they advised not leaving the complex after dark!

The Metro is fine. There are plenty of nutters on there, just as there are in London :)

    The buses are even worse!

Yes! :) Everyone in LA drives. So you only take the bus if you are poor, young, or crazy :)

Thats the conclusion we came to anyway.

But again, no worse than in London really.

we got the bus to santa monica from hollywood - what an experience that was. I think all the homeless were moving to the beach for the summer. That said we would use the bus again - we did have a car but for some reason thought it would be better to get the bus? We also used the train to get from universal back to hollywood - that was okay. Just have to be aware all the time but thats the same wherever you go.

We had to get the bus to Santa Monica. Im not sure the Metro goes out that far? What line can you see it on, on your map?

On the way back to lax, you get off at a stop, cant remember the name, and then a shuttle takes you to the aiport. It only comes every 25 mins or something which is pretty irritating.

Ive been from lax to santa monica on the bus, I think it took around 45-55 mins.

    this website might help you
