Do any bank update their online system in real time (which i think is what you're asking/wanting)? Santander in my experience have been the slowest, but i haven't had any that've updated in real time - including Halifax, TSB, Nationwide.0

I'm not sure about real time. I know Barclays earmarks it, and in a few days it shows you the company details etc. I'm sure I just read in another post that they are looking to do this soon although I'm no sure if the poster was referring to Lloyds bank or all banks... Look in the thread 'real-time basic bank accounts'. Its a newish thread...0

The FD online banking site is kind of old fashioned but it works.
I've been with FD since the days of pure telephone banking and have no intention of changing despite offers from the likes of Halifax with financial incentives.
In the years I've been with FD online, I have not once experienced any delay or error in payments or transfers. It would be nice if the web site was modernised and I'm sure it will come eventually.

I had the same issue with the account, it is the only acc i have that takes days to update the available balance. I know how much i spend but it is a joint account and i dont know what other half spends in the day whilst we are apart so the ability to see the correct balance is paramount. I originally only kept the account open as i have the 8% regular savings account which will close if I close the account. Then i discovered where i could find the proper balance by accident and all was well. Why oh why do they have to make it so difficult.0

"by keeping a mental note in my head, but I shouldnt have to!"
I'm sorry but you really should... That's called managing your money responsiblyThe only thing you should be paying interest on is a mortgage.
Otherwise Mr Banker - No, I think you'll find interest is something you pay to me....0
