Whats happened to Remegel?

I have seen them for sale but they are quite expensive on the big auction site.0

So well over a year since I first ran out of Remegel and despite positive signs, as yet I don't think they are available.
Thanks to everyone who has kept posting and keeping me updated. Lots of interesting facts and helpful tips over this thread that may help people.
It is really strange that still over a year on and there is no Remegel and still no alternative on the UK market.
I had tried the Rennie soft chews in the past and while not as good as remegel, they were a good alternative to have in reserve.....but as we have all found out, they are long gone too.
So unless we want to buy from the person selling his old stock on eBay then we are still waiting (And just who on earth is paying £10 +postage for 3 packs of nearly out of date Remegel......someone is, just look at his feedback!????)
I did find half a packet last summer in an old backpack I had used for holidays. While I initially thought it was like Christmas come early, when I needed them and came to have one I realised that something I had read on here was very true:........ - I have found that if they are not in a sealed container, they tend to turn into a sticky mess.. not very safe with bacteria around!!
The ones I found had gone beyond a sticky mess and had almost become liquid like in part. I was so looking forward to a non-chalky remedy that I still had a go anyway and sort of licked it off the wrapper, but it was horrible and I wished I hadn't!!! :embarasse
So maybe there is some kind of issue after all that stops them being produced, or stops someone else producing a different version. I mean there is clearly a gap in the market and these drug makers have the money and power to fill that gap and get the sales.......so what is stopping them I wonder?
Oh well back to my chalky Bisodol again I suppose0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. I phoned Reckit Benckiser UK this morning and a very helpful lady told me that yes the licensing issues have been resolved BUT Remegel cannot be distributed until it has clearance from the British Medical Council.
She wasn't able to tell me how long Remegel had been under scrutiny of BMC or indeed when it would be released for general sale. Could be next month.............or next year or even not at all!0 -
DebtMagnet...really, see the GP if you've had this for over a year.

I kind of agree with heartbreak as the condition can lead to serious health problems apparently.
And let's hope for your sake The LINX Reflux Management System will be available in the UK sometime soon, though only if NICE and the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt approve its use.
The LINX device is an option for patients in the US who do not respond to dietary and lifestyle measures. Though may only be offered if drugs aimed at neutralizing the acid in the stomach fail to prevent acid reflux.

Probably won't apply to you though as you don't have a "dodgy valve" as you've pointed out previously.0 -
Hi Just to add that I too have been forlornly scouring supermarket shelves and chemists for supplies of Remegel for over a year now. They are the only remedy that works for occasional heartburn. Like the OP I only occasionally suffer, typically at night, and when I do its only Remegel that does the trick. My old supplies have now gone the way of others' - one big sticky mess. The closest alternative is Gaviscon liquid - it is so thick that is almost works like the chewy Remegel, but still inferior. Please post here anyone who spots them back on sale. Thanks for all the info meanwhile.:(0

Check Amazon, a friend says they have seen them on there0
-
Thanks Molly Dog, you are spot on and Amazon have two sellers listing them right now.
However I see they are currently £6.99 for 24??!!!
100 Bisodol cost me £2.50 and while I would prefer Remegel, I'm just not sure I can justify those prices on a strict budget.
Hopefully they will start working the way through the supply chain and back on to the supermarket shelf again as then the price should hopefully be more realistic?
Thanks again for the update

Amazing News! I found these today in the 99p shop - triple pack (24) best before 11/2014! Couldn't believe it when my mum pointed them out (I wasn't even looking at that shelf)! :jA waist is a terrible thing to mind.0
