  • give them a break, its january and they bid the item up. i would just send a message saying thanks, and no problem.
  • Immediate payment are BIN not auctions.

Yes of course they are, sorry, I just wouldn't use ebay any other way, don't want all the hassle.

OP, hope you get it sorted

  • Why dont you tell them that the automatic unpaid assistant opens a non payment case on day six and closes four days later, explain that will still give them time to pay, which it will.

I didn't know it did that, excellent, I'll just pass that info on to her then.

Thanks for all your advice. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt as she did say it was payday then and I guess it was a nice letter.

How can I completely cover myself in sending it though in case she does try a "item not as described" or "damaged in transit"??

I appreciate your help on this as it has been a very long time since I last sold something on ebay (about ten years). :)

  • You have to wait or risk getting negative feedback. The feedback system is a joke
  • Can she still feedback if she doesn't pay?!

Jesus. My reply would be "Yes, no problem! All the best..."

Then if they pay, they pay. If they don't pay after 20 days or so, then just start a NPB... no rush.

The only seller to try rushing me into paying (I received phone calls after 3 days!) got screwed big time. I don't appreciate it, and I don't rush my buyers in to paying either.

Unless you open & close a NPB case against someone (without them paying) they can still leave feedback. Regardless of how long they have taken to pay.

Interesting to just read this post. Sometime early last year I sold a large household item on Ebay for £85. It was a much better price than expected & there had been stiff competition between 2 or 3 buyers.

Anyway, winning bidder sent me email to say she wouldn't be able to pay for at least 7 days as she was waiting to get paid. I was quite shocked & I replied, saying that wasn't quite how Ebay worked & that payment needed to be made asap. I then got another message from her explaining that she desperately wanted & needed my item & that as they rarely seemed to be available and mentioning how, because I lived only a few miles away from her, she decided to go ahead & bid as she didn't want to miss out on the chance. The message was very honest & open & I remembered back to my younger days when my financial circumstances were probably much like hers, so decided to hold the item for her.

She did pay as as soon as she got paid and I ended up holding on to the item for nearly 2 weeks in the end as she had trouble arranging collection at a reasonable rate. I had no problem with that as she kept in touch with me daily & I actually found somebody local to me to deliver to her for almost half the price she was being quoted. She gave me the most glowing feedback I have ever received!
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
