Anyone used Dulux Diamond Matt recently?

Hi,

I'm going to redocorate my hallway and landing which out of all the rooms in my house seems to be the ones that get the most scuffs and marks. I'm looking for a durable, wipeable paint in a matt finish. I've been looking around and Dulux Diamond Matt keeps on coming up as a decent choice. The problem is all the conflicting reports about it. Some say it's a low sheen matt finish, some say it's too shiny. Some say you can wipe it and some say you can't.

What i want ideally is something in between Vinyl Matt and a Bathroom paint, erring towards the matt side. I definitely don't want a shiny hallway! Doesn't have to be wet cloth wipeable like bathroom paint, but i'd rather not have shine marks left behind each time i wipe out a mark like with Vinyl Matt.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I don't know what you regard as shiny, but I think for your situation, I would go with a good quality eggshell - eg Johnstones http://www.johnstonestrade.com/product-range/product.aspx?product=Eggshell In my experience this is matt enough and does not tend to shine up when you wipe it.

Thanks. Can i use eggshell on an interior wall though?? I always thought eggshell was just a finish for wood?

Dulux Diamond Matt is the trade version of Dulux Endurance Matt, which I used recently. It is not quite as matt as normal paint, but not far off, and it is wipeable. I used it in my bathroom.

You could always buy a tester pot of Endurance, paint it onto a wall inside a cupboard, or a piece of plasterboard, and see if it cuts the mustard.

    Eggshell is fine on walls.

Quick question about eggshell - is this one of those finishes where it's difficult to subsequently paint standard matt over it if you so wanted, without further prep work being needed?
