There is a radical way to get quite a lot of cash quite quickly but like I say it's radical!

How about one or both of you sign up to do clinical/medical trials?

I have a thread on it in the Up Your Income board. There's good money to be had in that field. Don't dismiss it completely out of hand, think about it and read up about it before you decide.

It would certainly get you out of a pickle.

What about a cheap(er) motorbike for a while?

    Just a thought!;)
  • Would a bike be cheaper?

Only issue is the roads he drives on can become blocked due to snow and traffic.

I'm no expert, but guess a bike would be cheaper to buy, and run?
I appreciate the snow, but then cars get stuck also, but how can you get stuck in traffic in a bike !?! ;)

If your husband is travelling 925 miles per week and your car does 50mpg that is costing nearly £6000 in post tax earning per year- has he considered getting a job nearer home

Every 10mpg you don't get on a newer car will cost you £1200 in fuel approx, which is almost what you are paying for maintenance. For the mileage you are doing you will almost certainly need a diesel, which will cost a premium.

I'd be focussing on the mpgs, not the repair costs
