Marks&Spencer not honoring sale price on website

Hi, my girlfriend has bought a lamp shade from M&S online today.

She went through with the sale but the discount has not gone through, shes been in touch (email) with M&S but they are not honoring the fact its say 25% off on the site.

does my girlfriend have any case here? surely it is false advertising?

Firstly, take a print of that screen before it gets changed.

Have M&S offered any explanation on why they will not honour the '25% off' banner?

I am sure that this can easily be resolved with a phone call. Ring them.
This page gives a few phone numbers.

It could be a simple website error, in which case they do not have to honour it.

Give them a call and see what they say.

Done the print screen earlier as I had a feeling they would change it.

This is what they replied with:

I’m sorry I'm unable to remove this discount as the shade isn't included in the offer. The red banner may have been added in error.

There will be a green box to the side of each product to advise if this is included. If they are included the discount will automatically apply at the final checkout stage.

I've passed this on to the relevant department to ensure this banner will be removed as soon as possible. I'm sorry for any disappointment this may have caused.

On to a loser there I am afriad. You could always try ringing up to see if you catch someone on a good day, they may honour it anyway!

Websites are not durable

I was asking if she had received email confirmation or an invoice stating the lower amount. If not, then i'm afraid you'll struggle to get anything other than an apology from them.

The other thing being that the banner was on the initial picture only - it wasn't on the checkout picture and the price on the screen then was correct.

Ok thanks for everyones help here, just want to see where we stood, but netter half was just disappointed that she couldnt have the shade at the offer price.
