Hi Mark,
For what it's worth, I was in a position such as you 6 years ago....way too much debt and I never knew where to turn next. You think that there is no way out.
THERE IS MATE....
Be brave and call and speak to the specialist advisors, the debt charities, they really will tell you the best approach. Moreover, they will not judge you. For me, the approach was an IVA. Suddenly I had enough to live on for essentials, with a little money left over for me each month, but I had all the debt worry taken away. My IVA is now finshed and I am debt free. YOU CAN BE TOO. Just take the leap of faith and call someone - tonight, and get some guidence.
Talk to us here, now, if it helps...?0 -
Yeah because topping youself will pay the debts.
I was close to killing myself a few years back when I couldnt afford food. Then a friend killed themselves over being dumped by her hubby and I felt pure rage against her and myself for such a selfish act.
Will killing yourself pay your debts? No. What it will do is whilst you are on your cloud/haunting old buildings/being reincarnated/being burned in hell, is put your family though unbelievable pain and guilt which will last way after your debt is paid. It will leave a mark on the person who finds you, the medical staff who try to help, the cop who breaks the news to your family, even the funeral director . It will also just transfer your debts to your estate which will go to your family.
Get some help - call a debt helpline who will talk you through the process to sorting out a situation with your debtors. In the meantime take a look at other boards on this site which will help you live on less money without going mad; live of cheap meals, move into a tiny room in a shared house with a bunh of 17 year olds, turn the lights off, shop at charity stores (I wont tell anyone, promise). If you get bored; go for a walk, use vouchers for free days out, go to the library and read.
It really aint about the money money money - its about the journey we go though and many people would give their right arm to go though that journey with a job, let alone food.

I can slowly see my debts starting to come down, I have paid off £5000 over the last 6 months. My weekly food bill is less than £15.00, by shopping wisely at asda's, b&m's , farm foods etc, I can manage ok. i walk everywhere also, to save on petrol so keeping fit too, plus i feel much better. Well done for taking the courage to contact the CCCS. You are heading in the right direction.
According to your very basic SOA you spend £950 a month and have an income of £1200. Where does the reminder of the £250 go each month?
Take sometime and look through your bank statements and see how much cash you withdrew from the ATM machine and see where the rest of it is going.
Do you own a car?
