Bank has lost my loan agreement!

I am new to this so please bear with me.
I wrote to my bank to ask them to send me under section 77 act a copy of my loan agreement. After 2 months I recieved a letter today telling me that they can not find a copy and it has been mislaid. It goes on to say that although they do not have a copy of my loan agreement I must keep paying the month amount.
I called them to question this and to ask how I proceeed with my possible claim for ppi.
I was told that they cannot give me any assistance as they have not got a opy of the loan agreement and therefore don't know what was sold to me?
1 What is next best action
2 If they have lost the loan agreement and cannot provide me with a copy should I keep paying them?

  • you should always keep paying the loan. if you dont it will just screw up your credit rating and the bank will add charges.

they will be able to show you borrowed the money and you have been happily paying it back, so the loan is not in dispute, just the immediate availability of paperwork.

your best bet of getting a copy of the loan agreement will be to request a SAR from your lender. This request is normally made to a central office where copies of all information is held for 6 years.

please see the following link in SAR's

I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free
