I thought some of you might find this interesting. It's pretty amazing, really -- you can run Linux in your web browser:

Well... maybe it could be described as "minimalistic"... what would you expect?! But has anyone actually got it to do anything more interesting than change and list directories, and clear the screen?

There was a time when if you quoted those figures you would be considered a bragger!

If I recall computers were still usable even then.

My first PC (which cost me over a grand in 1990) had a green on black screen, 1MB of RAM, a 5 1/4" floppy drive and a 20MB hard drive - I thought it was great!

Ha ha - yes; I remember when just having a computer with a disk drive was considered pretty cool!

My first computer had 128kB RAM a 3" floppy drive (not 3.5"!) and no hard drive at all. It was a great tool to learn programming. In fact, that was all there was to do except play games, and if you just wanted to play games you'd get a console... Possibly one made out of wood! Kids today wouldn't believe it!

by the way the "Linux" being used is "busybox" a compiled "blob" that is a single file that holds ALL the basic functions of the standard Linux OS's /bin & /sbin folders plus a couple of others.

Busybox is used in a number of devices, a small list is here: http://busybox.net/products.html
