  • I make spinach canelloni using pancakes, using this recipe from Delia for the filling. Yummy!

If you buy the ready made rolls be aware they are a pain in the bot to fill up, takes ages to prepare, first time I did it I was filling one end with the meat and it was coming out of the other etc, sussed it with a funnel now :rotfl: but it is lovely

I use basically lasagne recipe but fill the tubes with the meat & tomato based sauce then cheese sauce round it and topped with cheese, yummy!

You can use lasagne pasta, if it's dried then boil it first to soften so you can wrap it round the meat, fresh you don't need to of course.

I think it is easier with the sheets, like I said need to soften them first if they are dried. then put them with the open bit at the bottom so they all don't just pop open

Something I have learned is to put some of the sauce/meat or oil or something in the bottom to stop them sticking!

If you think they might stick add a little oil to the pan and do a couple at a time. Into boiling water until they soften up a bit so you can roll them. You could do them tonight and make it up ready to go in the oven if you want to cheat ;)

Jamie Oliver has a tip in one of his books for filling Cannelloni. Get a baking dish that can hold the pasta vertically. Then just pour your filling on the top and push it down the tubes. Add your topping and cook. It looked a lot easier than when I filled them all individually.

Does anyone have a simple recipe for making cannelloni. I am on a mission this weekend to make as much of our food for the month from scratch as I possibly can.
