School May/June half-term dates?

Hi,

Just been checking my son's holiday dates for this year and found he's off the first week of June whereas it's usually the last week of May.

We're thinking of booking to go away for a few days somewhere and just wondered if the holiday dates are the same around the country?

Hi, my childrens holiday dates this year are the same the first week of June, if that is of any help, we are in warwickshire.

It's all to do with the extra Bank Holiday for the Queen's Diamond Jubillee.

You're right it's normally Bank Holiday the last Monday in May, but it's first Monday and Tuesday in June, but only for this year.

Don't know if the holiday companies have picked up on this though.

yep, the May bank holiday has moved to June, so most schools in England and Wales will be off the week beginning 4th June this year.

Yep, it's all change and, as a result, the IOW festival has changed which week it's on... DS1 is gutted, I'd promised him a ticket as soon as I saw his half term dates, he was so looking forward to going but there's no way his dad will agree to time off school.

London borough of Sutton is the same, off the first wk in June.
As others have said, it's all to do with the golden jubliee.
So May bank holiday is now in June!!!

Some schools have two weeks at Spring Bank, usually last two weeks in May, but this year many have chosen last in May, first in June.

If you google your local authority that your school comes under and 'school holidays' you should find a page dedicated to all the dates for this year and next - certainly works for Hampshire... (I'm a teacher and this works for me for booking hols as far in advance as poss to get the best price!!)
