Toilet seat!

We have this type of toilet and needed to replace the seat, we had to get the correct one from the original manufacturer (Armitage Shanks). Cost about £50 3 years back.
I was impressed that they could still supply a matching one after 18 years!
It fits perfectly and never works loose.0 -
Sounds like the OP has nothing to go on."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"1

My problem was the holes in the pan were too large. After fitting a sleeve round the bolts seat does not move."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Moral-NEVER buy a "Dedicated" toilet, buy the "Bog standard" (Roundish) Bottom fixing (No jokes intended)0

Just to complete this tale: I bought many seats from B&Q and all but one I took back due to be wrong size blah blah, but the final seat fitted and had the right sort of nuts packaged all in. Search B&Q website for Sorrel Toilet Seat.
Bit expensive really (£25) but tbh I must have spent a life time in B&Q buying and returning bog seats! Get this one and live happily ever after.0 -
I am grateful for the information about the Sorrel seat from B&Q. I had been expecting an extortionate price to replace the seat on my toilet (back to wall/cabinet and top fixing only).
I bought the Sorrel seat today (£21.23 with the 15% at the moment). Cost more than a basic seat with usual fittings, but half the price I expected based on earlier internet searches.
Thank you honestsammy for all your efforts :beer:0 -
For those having problem with the toilet seat bolts moving try this for top fitting loo seats. Easier to tighten and will stay tightened.
goto plumbworld site and search for bemis-well-nuts-m6-set-3333-25853
Installation instructions are in the middle of the web page.
They are called well nuts. you can google "well nuts toilet seat" and will see quite a few.
or for regular seat with bolts fixing from under the seat see below.
search for

Hope this helps with loose seats.
Hope this helps.0 -
Conisdering the OP on this thread was Feb 2007 and the one before you posted was Jan 2011, i'm pretty sure they have all fixed their loo seat problems by now. That or they have learnt to live with the dodgy one
