I hope you won't mind, but I've been lurking here off and on. I have loads of stuff left from DTD last year and "buy" it from myself whenever I open a new bottle/box and love the idea of the 2nd purse.

Anyway, my reason for posting is this: I've read the last few posts about cheap Lenor on Amazon and wondered if any of you had joined the fun that is Supersavvyme on Facebook? There's not a thread devoted to it that I can find, but it is discussed widely over on the tesco 11+ thread and also the coupon thread. Basically you post helpful (ish) tips you get stickers (rewards) which allow you to print off £1 vouchers for stuff like Tampax/Always, lenor, fairy, bold, flash, oral B toothpaste etc. *
Savvy shopping using offers allows you to get lots of useful household stuff for free, or very very cheap.
Tesco has 500ml bottles of Lenor for £1 right now so free with voucher, Fairy liquid apple or pomegranite are £1 so free. There are 50ml tubes of toothpaste for £1 too also Always simply fits is £1.20 bogof so if you use 2 vouchers you get 80p off your shopping too!

This could be a useful way of stretching the 2nd purse's budget without breaking the bank. Anyway, just wanted to spread the news and hope it helps someone to fill up their 3rd purse!

    * to give you an idea I got 4 tampax/always vouchers, about 12 lenor/ariel/bold/fairy non bio vouchers, 4 Iams vouchers, about 10 oral b vouchers and over 10 fairy /flash/febreze/ambi pur all valued at £1 each. I've probably forgotten some too, so imo certainly worth doing.
It's also not mandatory to use your own name, so if unsure maybe consider opening another account?

Thanks MrsBartolozzi - think I mentioned it a couple of weeks ago not sure if anyone on this thread joined up - my stock cupboard is overflowing - won't need any cleaning stuff for a good few months and I think we have enough toothpaste for a year maybe more. this has freed up money to buy other bargains. I do believe ssm have hinted that there will be more rewards in the future as well. My coupon wallet was overflowing for a week or so but now it is looking very empty
  • I've been using Mission control and can't believe how easy its been to get the coupons. I've been getting the flash liquid and sprays - free, the MrT near us doesn't stock the apple or pomegranate fairy so I've had others at 25p but they also had a 1litre bottle for £1.49 so 49p with vouchers, I've had the free lenor and also the half price toothpaste 24p with the coupon so we have 6 months supply. I've given a load away as well:D
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

  • I don't have any money in my 3rd purse yet either but I think this is more of a long term thing though. I just like the fact that when special offers are on, I (nearly) always have money available in my 2nd purse to buy them, instead of having to buy them full price like I used to. Also, I'm finding that now I'm debt busting and trying to reduce my grocery budget, I don't have enough money to buy my items back from 2nd purse at full price (for eg I charge myself £2 for something I bought for £1.50 but not the £2.50 that it would have cost me at full price) but that doesn't matter as it'll just take me longer to get my 3rd purse £80. The point for me is I'm reducing my grocery budget overall (my average weekly spend has gone down from £100 to about £75/£80) and making the most of all the good bargains while they are available :)

I defo think 3rd purse is a long-term project, afterall it takes time to get there as you have to build up your stocks first. I've got £60 in my 2nd purse at the moment but if I need any offers then that'll reduce (in fact I need to find a L1dl for those loo roll, but will hide them somewhere that my housemate doesn't know about as it's her turn to buy them next). I am finding that my grocery budget is reducing though :D that's the most pleasing thing of all, I have food!

I too am noticing that my weekly spend is going down and I am sure the 2nd purse total will soon start rising then the money will flow into the 3rd purse - I am trying to see it as a long term venture than a quick fix iykwim

Owing 3rd purse over £5 in profit as well though :rotfl:

I've been deliberately buying smaller amounts of a larger range of stuff to keep the cash flow whilst I start out, and buying stuff I know I will use soonish - so rather than spending £10 on 10 pears soap I only bought 4 -ok might regret it when I run out but it means I am seeing the benefit now. As I build up and get some more cash in I will buy in larger amounts.

Heinz Beans for me next I think

sounds like a sensible way to go - i think its probably best to have a wide variety of things rather than 100 soaps for example, slow and steady.

A good stock of any items you use frequently is definitely the quickest way to establish your 2nd Purse, though I must say some of you are getting there much quicker that I did when I first started doing it. Its only been about 46 days since Kerri started the challenge, I've been doing it so long now its become a way of life , but I know I will never stop.

I'm realy enjoying this thread, its good to know that there are others who think the same as I do.
