How much do the panasonics cost? Does anyone know? If it's £70 for a new tin, are they really expensive?
The new panasonic is @£170 so the new tin is disproportianately expensive. Tbh, I love my machine so first of all was going to replace the bucket, BUT after 7 years of constant use, would be absolutely gutted if the machine then packed up - so at some point I will be getting a new one - will try to last as long as i can before then though - how mse!!!
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!

I feel cheated! MrT is doing the same eggs that MrA did-but buy 1 for £1 and get two free:(

    delurking to say polkadot

My local Mr T is £2.50 for 1 on buy one get 2 free, so cheaper if you need multiples of three, not 3 for £1 (unless it is also on the really small ones). This was medium sized smarties with a full size pack of smarties

I keep them in their original packaging, they are easier to store. I tend to go through a lot of lentils and I really HATE the big bulk bags I usualy end up spilling half of them trying to get them in the jar.
I keep my flour in the original bag, but sit it in a basket for easy lifting and roll the bag over and clip it, it keeps it fresh.
With rice I usually buy the 5 or 10Kg bags I fill a large storage jar then roll and clip the original bag.
If you have a problem with mice/moisture etc, those plastic containers like www.reallyusefullbox.com sell are good, keep your eye open in Makro, Staples or the like and you can usually get some good deals. Keep the dry goods in their original packaging and just fill up your kitchen jars.
Or recycle your DR boxes, you could store dry goods in them , (in the original packaging. )After you've washed them out. They are really sturdy and stackable.

Just in case anyone thinks I'm being rude not thanking anyone Firefox goes nuts if I try to do anything, so I will thank you all now xxxx

I used to do Lucky bags for the kids when they were young, with chocolate , a can , a bag of crisps etc , and sell them to them, I used the money to restock and expand the choice. It stopped them squandering their money at the local shops where everything was way overpriced anyway. They soon cottoned on that they could get two or three things from my shop for their money. I used to buy choc ices , cornettos etc when they were on offer too. I told my nephew about this and he opened a tuck shop at school, it was three miles from the nearest shop, and all the boys were buying from him, it was hillarious, we used to deliver 'stock' to him. It went well for about a year until lots of other boys decided to open up in competition and the school closed them all down LOL. My nephew saved the money he made but the other lads 'ate ' their profits.

Thanks for the link Mothership-we do struggle with mice as our terrace backs on to a woods.Ive kept my eyes open but not found anything suitable at the right price.

Ive been saving for a set Ive had my eye on at Nisbets-but seeing how its a proper catering company. I have one that I use for my sugarpaste-but its not big enough for the amounts I want to keep in-particularly of sugar-which reminds me...I need to pay for a bag of sugar.
