No luck, but thanks for letting me know! I'm in the wrong area, the lady I spoke to said it's mainly London & the home counties. I'm in Leicestershire & she gave me the number for someone up north who may have known someone my way but no luck their either, sounds a great scheme though & just what I need! Thanks so much for letting me know about it!

So sorry to hear you haven't had any luck with this Tigerlily. Did you try both the BAP and SAP? Each organisation is run differently and it might be that one could help even if the other can't. I've pm'd you a suggestion of someone my dh knows of in Leicestershire who might be able to suggest something... although no promises... this might be another dead end... but I so want to be able to help if I can!
    Good luck

  • Common problem - Mental health is the poor relation in the NHS. My partner is an RMN and is always complaining about the lack of funding. The hospital she trained in was shut recently and a new one opened. SOunds fantastic, and she tells me that it is really nice, but half teh wards have never been used as they cant afford to finance the operation of it

I do sympathise, but every area of the NHS seems to be suffering equally.
if I had another illness, say cancer (I don't wish to offend or upset anyone, just a physical illness to compare to) i'd get the treatment I need

No, you wouldnt. My father has terminal lung cancer, my aunt (his sister) passed away last month from the same disease. There is a drug out there called Tarceva that is proven to prolong the lives of lung cancer sufferers. If you lived in certain postcodes in the UK, or in Scotland you would recieve this drug, however, here in staffordshire its basically tough luck.

My aunt paid out £50 a day for the drug and it gave her 6 months she wouldnt have had with her family. we cant afford it for my father and the PCT's do not listen.
i'd have support from nurses & prompt treatment. This was the case with my Aunt.

Not in our experience. The huge delay between diagnosis and treatment with my Aunt allowed the cancer to spread to an inoperable stage. My father was diagnosed in September last year but didnt recieve his first dose of chemotherapy until January 7th.

My personal thoughts have always been to adopt the US system. Id rather the govenment stop taxing me to pay for bosses flash cars and Ill pay medical insurance myself thanks!

I was in a similar situation (and to some extent am again) last year when I was suicidally depressed. I couldnt see a councillor for months and my Dr was worse than useless. I got better on my own, with support from my family and friends. With all that is going on in my life at the moment I felt myself slipping back into the depression, however, Im now at college.
I requested an appointment with a college councillor and was given one for half an hour later. I now see her regularly.

I agree i'd rather pay for insurance too. Cancer was just an example, it runs in my Dad's side & they all got help, tho not all made it, it's terrible to hear how you & your family have been treated, my heart goes out to you. The government seem to tax on everything & spend it on nothing, instead of education/NHS etc. Thinking about it, my Mum had a 20Ib cyst & it could've been cancer, the NHS waiting list for a scan would've been too late if it had been & she used her insurance, so yea.

  • Hi, not good I spent the night in A&E & they wouldn't let me leave until almost 3am, 7hrs just for them to make one phonecall! I'm back with the Crisis Team & hoping to finally get a CPN, but doubt it, hope you're ok? Sorry I can't write much today
