Actually since it's a US company, it's neither. It's filed for Chapter 11, as in Chapter 11 of the Banktuptcy Code - "A chapter 11 debtor usually proposes a plan of reorganization to keep its business alive and pay creditors over time". Technically speaking this does not affect any of the non-US subsidiaries of the Eastman Kodak Co, but will likely have repurcussions.0 -
At the last accounts filing, Eastman Kodak had assets of $5 Billion and debts of $6.7 Billion.
They have now filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the USA. They've not gone into administration in the US, but will continue operating by selling off many of their assets.0 -
There was an interview on the radio yesterday that suggested things are quite hopeful for Kodak.
They are effectively a pension company that happens to make cameras and printers.
The camera and printer side of things are doing quite well.
They also have loads of valuable patents.
The chapter 11 protection gives them time to sort themselves out.
There is much wrong media coverage about the fact that they have gone bust. They have not. They might, they might not.
Just hope the bad press does not become self fulfilling!0 -
Same as happened to several US airlines, which then recovered.0

We'll have to see if anything...developsOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

There are two types of cartridges that Kodak make, one is the number 10 series and the other the number 30.
The number 30's seem to be Kodak only and I would generally avoid those machines unless you are willing to splash out and stock up on a few of the cartridges, just in case.
Number 10's are available as compatibles so there shouldn't be a problem with these since they are made by companies other than Kodak.
