What sort of dummy is it? My dd could never keep the orthodontic types (the flatter ones) in her mouth so I moved straight onto the more bulbous ones - sorry I can't remember the proper name - which stayed in her mouth for far longer.

She hasn't had any problems with her teeth either.
It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :j
    Happiness is not a destination - it's a journey :)
  • I had this problem when my daughter was about 9 months. I was having to get up to her anywhere up to 20 times a night to give her the dummy back. She really wouldn't settle without it either. I was recommended to get a Sleepy Tot - https://www.sleepytot.com

It worked miracles! For very little ones you can attach one arm to dummy and another to the cot bars so it can't get lost. Now she's older we don't attach it to the cot and she treats it more as a soft toy for comfort.

    hi there
Just had to post as i have just read your post to my hubby. Our son had a dummy and he still had it when he was nearly SIX! Cant belive it now really as he is now 16,,, i would really try and give it up as my son was a nightmare without the dummy at night. He kept loosing the b....dy things and the house was literally full of dummies. Cant believe how much sleep we lost over the years looking for dummies at 3am. Having said that i would do anything for him to be a little baby again.....x
  • I could be very wrong but in generalising with lots of parents and babies i've come across, MY experience seems to be in general:

    1) bottle feed babies prefer the harder silicone dummies are they mimick the bottle teat more

    2) breast feed babies prefer the softer cherry type teat dummies as they mimick the nipple more.

Now obv this isn't a hard and fast rule, but just an observation and i'm sure there are loads of babies who would contradict me.

    Good luck op.
