mobile phone contract on bankruptcy

hi all

i am after a mobile phone contract for as cheap as possible and if i remember correctly its not allowed to try and get more than £500 credit while bankrupt.

therefore my questions are:-

1. if i were to get a mobile phone contract for 12 months at lets say £15 a month (total of £180) a year, would this be acceptable?
2,what are the chances of a mobile phone company even giving me a contract at the minute?

Thanks in advance

  • Woulds be fine but it's a large IF you can get a contract while bankrupt

once your discharged have a read of the clean up sticky at the top of this forum and then its been known Orange/3/T-mob to give a sim only contract and after a while the chance to go to a full contract

i had terrible credit when i got a sim card on contract with orange , within 3 months they had upgraded me to a full and proper contract with a windows phone. no problems since.

I dont know if that would apply if your BR, i got mine before BR, but my credit was absoutely shocking and they said , highly unlikley id be refused for what i first went for .

In terms of the 500 pound, mobile phone is rolling credit, and we all k now if you dont pay that montly bill they will terminate the contract , so you should be well under the 5oo pound barrier.
if only life was a box of chocs

As regards the 500 limit. The actual rule is that you can get up to 500 without legaly having to volunteer the info that you are bankrupt, you can get more than 500 if you tell them you are bankrupt.

Not that I would want to encourage you to get lots of credit though
