Inappropriate Sanction ?

Hi, I'm Chris and I claim JSA. I always apply to submissions and jobs however, about a month ago I was sanctioned for 'failure to apply for a job' and so the job in question I whipped up my emails and got a screenshot of the particular job they said I hadn't applied for.
-However- it seems I have mistyped the email address of said job (despite sending the email on time etc.) and so have sent them a screenshot of this.
Where do I stand with this, I mean the job is no longer on the JS database and in essence, the post is closed, so I can't reapply for it. I'm not sure if I should be sanctioned because I did -technically- not fail to apply for work (the line they love to stress) but it's also not their fault I have mispelled an email adress (silly I know). Can they really take people off JSA because of clerical error, I mean I have rent to pay etc, and because of such a small error I am behind.
But yes any know-how from the MSE forums would be lovely, just to say where I stand, regardless if I should be sanctioned or not.
Regards,
Chris

Dont forget that all the evidence goes to an independant panel to be assessed as to whether you should be sancitioned. This will include your side of the story. Cant speak for them but they will listen to you.0

After calling them this morning it is still being processed through decision making, however I was looking for perhaps personal experience or knowledge relating to whether or not this is indeed against the JSA contract and should be sanctionable, thanks for the reply however !0

Its a difficult one but if you have the e-mail and can prove that it is purely a spelling mistake then i doubt they could serve a sanction based on human error.
However what I don't understand is why did you not get an e-mail saying that it was undelivered. Usually, in fact in 99.9% of the times that an e-mail gets sent with an error in the address that the e-mail gets bounced back to you as when it can't be delivered it notifies you of this. I can't believe that you were unaware that this e-mail did not get delivered!0 -
Depends. Suppose the correct address was correct.name@correct.address - Your own ISP would probably bounce the emal if you sent it to correct.name@wrong.address - if wrong.address did not exist. If it did exist - or the email was sent to wrong.name@correct address, you are dependent upon the receiving domain sending back a bounce. This does not happen much these days, because spammers used to send spam to domains which would bounce using spoofed sending addresses, to get their spam bounced to the spoofed address. Its a difficult one but if you have the e-mail and can prove that it is purely a spelling mistake then i doubt they could serve a sanction based on human error.

Sorry, I maybe way off mark here, but lets see what support I get....
When you apply for for a job, there are certain rules to follow. Like good grammar, good spelling, get it in on time etc.
If you cant even transpose an email address correctly then I can't see how your application was suitable for eligibility for JSA. People (on this forum) have been sanctioned for less (like turning up on the wrong day, wrong time etc).
I have a large business and employ lots of people. If someone can't even get the email address right to apply for a job, then I don't want to know! Attention to detail is so important in most jobs, if you can't even get the email address right then what hope is there left for you?
Probably not what you wanted to hear I know, and perhaps I will be flamed (rec me if you feel otherwise) but you did a major FAIL and both the employer and yourself are better off apart!

Have you seen some of the adverts on Job Seekers Direct? One the other week had the correct spelling of the persons name but in the email the name both first and surname were spelt wrong so I sent one email with the wrong spelling, one with the right spelling and both came back so I then looked on the companies website and found the email address and the lay out was not even correctSorry, I maybe way off mark here, but lets see what support I get....

ie they had joe.bloggs@bloggs.com and was joebloggs@bloggs.com
Job seekers direct or whoever wrote the advert I guess wanted people to guess the email address0 -
How would JC+ know the OP had not applied for the job ?. According to someone I know who up until recently, worked for JC+, only 2 out of every 10 firms who were asked to, actually provided them with a list of applicants.
This could be a fishing-trip by JC+ to see if they can get people to admit to not applying for jobs.Never Knowingly Understood.

Thats not the case in the OPs post. They just got it wrong.
In your example there is an advert to show as proof.
The OP just got it wrong.
<shrug> I stand by my comment.

Read the OP. Chris has already been sanctioned.
How they "found out" is moot. The basis of the OPs argument is that its somehow because HE made a mistake its not HIS fault.

If they sanctioned everyone who cannot spell, and everyone who cannot fill in an application form properly, that would take in an awful lot of people.
Including a lot of their own staff."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0
