Oh I had that written in my contract that it disciplinary for anyone who to discussed with anyone what you were paid and if you got a pay rise or not and how much it was. That as far as I know is still in force at my old company.
That has far reaching consiquences to stop anyone knowing
anyone with access to the account salary is paid into
try not telling a partner what you are paid,
No mortgage/credit applications.0 -
it was only for people at the company nothing was mentioned about familygetmore4less wrote: »That has far reaching consiquences to stop anyone knowing

OP - could you maybe negotiate some extra training or similar which would help you if/when you decide to move on? I have done this before when offered a 'promotion' which was unpaid, and the training was actually more valuable than the raise I had asked for as it helped secure my next, higher paid role.0

Reverse the argument.
If you were not changing jobs but simply wanted more money, then you would be expected to show how you were worth more now than before and how you had developed, taking on additional responsibilities.
In your position, they are asking you to take on more responsibility and additional tasks which is exactly why they should increase your salary.
This is one way I may approach it.0 -
Everyone, thanks for your replies and input and sorry for not acknowledging sooner but I've been caught up in a few things.
Anyway since my original post things have moved on a bit as the company as a whole is now being restructured so the new role is off the cards. However next time a new opportunity comes along I'll be a bit better informed as to how to deal with it!
Thanks again everyone

More responsibility should equal more appreciation in the paypacket but employers these days want more for their money. Bit greedy I know. Personally I would be prone to accept, make them reliant on me, then 6months down the line ask for more money. At the end of the day if beefs up your CV if you decide to move on.0
