Any good local repair store will have copies of all Windows repair disks, plus Take This, if the OP is not comfortable going to the lengths of buying an external DVD/CD drive, they will also be able to install the Acer drivers which, the OP may or may not have. It costs the OP nothing to get a quote anyways.
I'm referring to the ACER XP Recovery disc, not a repair disc.
From a simple money saving point of view, I would rather have something to show for my money.
Rather than paying a shop £40 to reinstall an OS, better to spend the money on something that may be useful in the present and in the future and still have cash in hand from the remainder.
The shop will do nothing the OP cannot do and to suggest that the shop will have the Drivers wherea the OP may not is really stretching it.
All of the Drivers and instructions can be found here.
Perhaps the shop might have a copy of the ACER XP Home disc, but is it worth paying £40 for the use of it??
We spend a fair amount of time saving people money by getting them to do the simple jobs for themselves.
This is one of those jobs.
The optical disc will be useful for future installs and for general use. The £40 once paid, is gone forever.0 -
Moving on from that....
If the OP has never done a clean install, then the Recovery Partition may still be intact.
If Alt + F10 is not working, it could be that D2D Recovery is Disabled.
So that is worth checking.
Enable D2D Recovery by going into the BIOS. You do so by tapping F2 just as you restart the Netbook. Once the BIOS utility is open, go to the Main tab and then scroll down to D2D Recovery. If it is marked as Disabled, then change it to Enabled by using the F5 or F6 keys(or perhaps the arrow keys).
Choose to save the changes when asked and reboot. Try Alt + F10 again.0 -

Take This: I don't want to argue with you, I was responding to the OP's statement that she was thinking of using the Acer repair service. They would charge a considerably larger price for this.0 -
Not a problem... missed the bit at the end of her post suggesting that she pay ACER.
Think she should try the options here before taking that step. Specifically the D2D function, as ACER suggest that it will work with her machine.0
