1and1 to big cartel

I registered my domain with 1and1 and bought an email package 9 months ago when I started my cushion making business. Now I would like to create a website selling the cushions through big cartel. My question is about hosting - big cartel say a web hosting package isn't needed just domain hosting - is this what I already have? However 1and1 say if I move my domain then I will lose the use of the email package.

I think I would like to leave 1and1 anyway as their customer service help is always a bit vague but do I need to, or do I just need to arrange an alternative email provider? If I moved to 123reg would they be able to do what 1and1 say they can't, ie domain host as well as provide emails?

There are 3 componments of the service you are buying from 1and1, domain name registration, DNS (domain) hosting, and email hosting. You can change to other providers separately or together. 1and1 are saying won't provide email or DNS hosting separately.

To use a subdomain of your domain you just need to create a CNAME record using whatever interface 1and1 provide, and configure it using the big cartel control panel.
