Edf

Have recently agreed to pay my gas and electricity by direct debit with EDF after paying my last electricity bill to them in december and was told that £62 would be debited every month from 18th Jan for both utilities. They have taken £136 from my account saying that was £62 agreed DD and £23 estimated usage for the month and £42 Transferred consumption charges which the girl on customer service could not explain to me. Can anyone explain this to me please???

Hmmmm - Nothing seems to add up, including a total of £136 when combining £62 with £23 and £42, which I make £127.

Maybe some other responder knows what a ' Transferred Consumption Charge' is - Maybe the balance on the account up to the point the tariff was changed over to D/D payment? - I don't know and would be interested to find out

£23 'Estimated useage' charge, surely estimated useage is what EDF based the D/Debit on?

Unless someone on site with more knowledge than myself, (Not difficult) comes up with good reason for these charges and terms, within 10 days, I suggest Julieb12345 WRITES a letter headed Complaint demanding an explanation of these charges in plain English

No idea what a transferred consumption charge is, but my best guess based on the words in question, would be some sort of debt transferred from another supplier?
  • Depending on who you communicate with at EDF, you will probably get a completely different answer. The company is a complete joke and I would advise getting out as soon as you can!

I had correspondence from EDF saying my monthly bills were to be reduced from £196 to £86 per month based on my consumption from March to last Friday. They have now got back to me and calculated £116 per month but have included December 2010 in the calculation which was the coldest month on record for around 30 years! I have asked for an explanation, threatened them with Offgen and as soon as I get the £1400 worth of credit that is in my account refunded, I'll be out of there as there are still cheaper options available
