Does anyone know where I can give bras for charity. I have 6 really decent ones which are too good just to throw out. Any ideas?

Depending on whether you want to support breast cancer research or helicopters. Be aware though that the charity gets about £1 per kilo so you may be paying more in postage than they are going to get.0 -
Thanks Obukit. I was wondering if there are any recycling bins anywhere. I thought I had seen one locally, but can't find it now - must have dreamt it!!!!0

One of the women's magazines is appealing for bras to send to Africa. Few women have bras to support them, and rape is more common in those who do not wear bras. I'll try to get a link for you.
Ok, it's that's Life magazine and the address for the appeal is here:

You're welcome. I remember reading about it a few weeks ago, and although it isn't a registered charity, I think it is an excellent cause. And let's face it, many of us have a few bras that we no longer wear ( I had a drawer full).
If anyone has friends who want to donate, I would think it would be cheaper to send a larger parcel and sharing postage, than each person sending a smaller parcel each.0 -
Many thanks for that kingfisher blue. I knew someone would be of help :beer:0

I believe you can also donate bras to Oxfam shops and from there they are sent for resale in 3rd world countries. Apparently British bras are in big demand because they're so well made.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

I have seen Bra Banks in my local asda car parks near the other recycling bits.

there are no bra manufactuers in africa.... so thats why bras are in such high demand, and fetch a premium price...
Unless you are absolutely sure that is is a genuine request for the bras to be posted off, please do not send them, as they are only cashing in on a high priced item in africa....
I would just take them to your local charity shop...Work to live= not live to work0 -
