Unless you live or visit somewhere that's had a load of new roads built since your current map was produced I wouldn't bother.

I'm still using the map that came with my TomTom and that's about 4 years old. It still shows a couple of roundabouts on the A1 that have been replaced by motorway type junctions but that's not a problem.

Mind you I don't have mine on all the time. I only use it for the last few miles. Lets face it just about anyone can find somewhere like Bristol without one, it's finding the address when you get where you're going that's the problem.

The £90 maps update would be for lifetime updates. No, not yours - the Nuvi SatNav!

Nice to see the thieves are about...

There is no legal way to update them without paying.

Too true - £90 pounds - daylight robbery!

Perhaps not, but as this is a money saving site how about some constructive suggestions as to how to possibly obtain them cheaper.

There is a single source for these updates, Garmin itself. Your own logical suggestions are invited for how an organisation would sell the updates cheaper than the price it is charging.

And surely updates for the life of the satnav for £90 isn't desperately expensive?

Until of course your Nuvi 6xx (two years old)stops working 2 months after you buy the lifetime update  and it is not possible open it up to sort it yourself ie the speaker has detached from the mobo output.

Strange. Playcom and Amazon appear to be are selling them at less than Garmin list price.

Without being particularly creative, for starters how about introductory offers, special offers, discount voucher sites, coupons, promo codes etc etc etc...it's called marketing. Might not apply in this case but can't blame the OP for enquiring.

Might not be expensive to some people but the OP has already said she can't afford it .
